Adam Sliger, Long Time Citizen of This County Dies, Age 95 **.

Adam Sliger, a citizen of Comanche County, Texas for 48 years, and among the eldest citizens of the County, died Tuesday at his home, six miles from Comanche on the Hamilton Road, at the age of 95 years.

Funeral services were held at the Shiloh Cemetery by Rev. J.L. Ray.  A large crowd attended the services, including many from Comanche.

Mr. Sliger was born in Tennessee in 1831.  He came to Texas in 1878, locating at once on the farm in this county where he made his home for the remainder of his life.  He bought several hundred acres of land there, which he owned at his death.

Deceased is survived by four sons, George, Tom, Rutledge, Addie Sliger, all of whom live at, or near, the old home place.  He is also survived by 3 daughters, Mrs. W.A. Wetzel of Wood county, Mrs. Maggie Mc Donald of Hasse, Texas, and one daughter living in west Texas.  His children were present at his funeral except Mrs. Wetzel who was unable to come.  Surviving also are a large number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Sliger was a Confederate veteran and one of the veterans from Comanche attending the reunion in Dallas last spring.  He served in the 19th Tennessee.  He was a member of the John Pelham camp Confederate veterans in Comanche and members of this camp and other veterans attending burial stood ’round the casket during the funeral services.

His wife died in 1922.

** The date of birth on the Headstone is incorrect.  It should read 1820 instead of 1830. That would make him 105 years old at his time of death; which would be correct.  (per family oral tradition)
